Tajweed
Tajweed is the difference between reading the words and reading them as they are meant to be read. Most students arrive able to get through a page and unaware that a good share of their letters are coming out of the wrong place. This stage is slow, technical, and unusually satisfying.

Makharij — the exact point in the mouth and throat each letter is produced from
Sifat — the qualities that separate letters an untrained ear hears as the same
The heavy letters, and what they do to the vowels around them
Ghunnah, idgham, ikhfa, iqlab and izhar — the rules of noon and meem sakinah
Madd: which lengthenings are obligatory, which are permitted, and how each is held
Qalqalah, and the rules for stopping on the last word of an ayah
All of it applied inside your own recitation — not learned as a list of terms
